Emergency Preparedness
Preparing for natural disasters and other emergencies is essential for everyone in Windsor Square. Disasters can strike without warning, and in such moments, we may need to evacuate or shelter in place, with basic services — like water, gas, electricity, and phone lines — likely disrupted, possibly for weeks. In the aftermath of an emergency, police and fire departments will be focused on the most critical issues across the city, limiting their ability to respond promptly to issues in our immediate neighborhood. By taking steps now to prepare, each of us contributes to a safer and more resilient Windsor Square.
Through the Windsor Square Block Captain network and the Windsor Square Prepare! program, we support neighbors helping neighbors. Block Captains organize meetings to make block-by-block plans and distribute information on what to do on your block in the aftermath of a natural disaster or other emergency. If you’d like to help your block captain or volunteer to be one, please email us at blockcaptains@windsorsquare.org.
